This statue was inspired by Hugh Jackman's iconic portrayal of the role of Wolverine in the last 25 years. I tried to focus on his expression and the raw intensity that defines the character, and to sculpt not only likeness, but the anger, strength and essence of the character. This Wolverine statue took many months, a lot of trial and error, and challenged me more than I expected. This was one of those pieces where nothing came easy. I reworked parts, doubted myself, and stopped more than once when I didn't know how to proceed. You can't really tell from watching the video because I was careful to streamline the process and didn't include all the hurdles and failings, but I'm going to make it a point in the future to include stuff like that in videos, because I do not want people to think it's a straight up process and I get it perfect the first time, because that's not the case. One of the hardest and most time consuming aspects was getting the suit design right. Measuring each line from each element of design in relation to every other line around it. When you sculpt a pre-existing character you have to be very precise, and there's not much room for interpretation. When I started this project I didn't know how I was going to do it, but I pushed through until it came together, and by the end I was feeling completely burned out, but after everything it was totally worth it. Let me know what you think, and who you'd like to see sculpted next! If you have any questions for me leave them in the comments. And if you've watched till the end, thank you!
