California animal activists descend on the Staples Center in downtown LA in July of 2015 to protest the Ringling Bros. Circus featuring elephants and other exotic animals. PETA, Last Chance for Animals, In Defense of Animals & The Animal Protection & Rescue League were represented. While Ringling Bros. says it will stop using elephants by 2018, critics would like the elephants to be phased out immediately and sent to sanctuaries not affiliated with the circus. Critics also say, by continuing to use other animals like lions and tigers, the controversy remains. Activists say they will not rest until all animals are removed from all circus performances.
