Product in Focus - Dincel Structural Walling Bowens is excited to have partnered with Dincel Structural Walling to become their key Melbourne distributor. Dincel is the November Product in Focus. It is a permanent, polymer formwork for walls and columns, which when filled with ready mixed concrete, produces an economical, strong and durable structure. The system has been created and developed in Australia by engineers and is certified by the University of New South Wales and the CSIRO for waterproofing and fire rated properties. Andrew Healey, Bowens Product and Innovation Specialist, says; “Dincel is a fantastic product and is really innovative for us and our builders. It gives you great solutions for below-ground permanent formwork, as well as working for above ground projects such as lift pits, stairwells and walls.” Dincel is an easy product to work with and it does not require a specific trade to install it. Anyone can do it, whether you are a concreter, carpenter, or builder. Profiles are available for the basement level all the way up to the tenth story and higher. Your engineer can communicate with the Dincel engineers and discuss specifications. Ideally, discussions would happen at the design stage of a project, but can also occur at construction stage. Jarrad Alston, Dincel Victoria Account Manager, discusses the support that Dincel provides; “If it's the builders first time installing Dincel, we will be by their side to make sure that it is going up smoothly. If they've got any questions, we'll assist them with that.” Arfan Alsous, Director at Mortise & Tenon Construction, is using Dincel on a 30 apartment development currently under construction in Ringwood. Arfan explains that; “With help of Dincel’s technical team, we trained our carpenters on how to install Dincel. They picked it up so quickly! It's definitely a speedy product to put up.” As a structural wall, Dincel is a great alternative to precast concrete panels and block wall. As Dincel is lightweight and easy to move, you to get into tight sites that the other concrete options cannot. “If I were to install precast panels instead of Dincel walls I would require a 100 ton crane. However, I have power lines here and we are on a narrow street so that was not an option. We just craned up Dincel with a small crane truck,” explains Arfan. Once the walls are in place, the concreter simply pours the concrete inside the walls in stages. This is a very quick process. “We can do 500 square meters of Dincel walls in one day,” says Arfan. Waterproofing is a common issue in basements and Dincel assists with this issue as it is a non-porous product. Alex Rosovick, Dincel Victorian Sales Manager explains; “The typical scenario where Dincel absolutely excels is in the basement application.” Arfan says that; “We had some Dincel basements submerged from the outside and dry from the inside!” For Bowens, innovation is everything. Andrew explains that; “Bowens are committed to innovation. You can rest assured that we're bringing you the best products. We are spending a lot of time searching for the right suppliers to partner with and bring you the latest solutions, such as Dincel.” Account Managers Sam Russell and Phil Peet, from Bowens Rowville, make sure that Arfan is up to date with the latest products. He benefits from Bowens innovations and is keen to try new products. “Normally people are resistant to any new products but I would encourage builders to try Dincel,” says Arfan. Bowens can arrange dual calls and visit you on site with the team from Dincel to ensure that you are confident to use the product. Bowens has plenty of Dincel in stock ready to go.
