As the Battle of Berlin raged around the capital of the Third Reich, Adolf Hitler and the remaining parts of his inner circle remained in the city inside of the Fuhrerbunker. This was a complex of underground rooms and tunnels, a private and secret bunker for Hitler to conduct the final part of World War 2 in Europe from. However it was inevitable that the Second World War was lost for Germany and the Nazis, and with this Hitler began to consider his death. One of the strangest things he did before his death was to marry his long term girlfriend Eva Braun, in a reward for her loyalty to him. Hitler during his time as the Dictator of Germany portrayed himself as single, but inside of the Map Room in the bunker he and Braun had a quiet and small wedding. It was officiated by a man named Walter Wagner, a lawyer who had never even met Hitler before. However their wedding has been described as one of the most depressing in History, as 40 hours after they married both Hitler and Braun would be dead. Infact it wasn't just the bride and groom who perished shortly after the wedding, with the best man Joseph Goebbels taking his own life, Martin Borrmann dying inside Berlin and also even the priest was killed by the advancing Red Army. The couple did have a short wedding breakfast, having champagne toasts however Hitler disappeared to write his last will and testament, a rather strange thing to do after you've just got married.
