Experimental Reproduction of Bronze Age Pottery at the Terramara of Montale Archaeological Park

This video is part of a bigger project involving the Archaeological Museum of Modena and the Terramara Park of Montale together with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Starting from the raw materials and manufacturing techniques identified through specific analyses of ancient finds, in May 2007 three ceramists attempted to create 20 reproductions of vases, starting from originals from terramare. The aim of the experimentation was to test the various production methods and investigate what type of technical difficulties had to be overcome by ancient potters. The research experiment has been directed by professor Sara Tiziana Levi and developed by Valentina Cannavò, Elisa Govi, Gianluca Pellacani and the skilled craftsperson Yves Broda. #EXARC #ExperimentalArchaeology #documentary
