In the lead-up to the NSW Kayakers Rock 'n' Roll Weekend, I teamed up with a couple of awesome paddlers from South East Queensland for a top day of exploring around beautiful Broughton Island (Port Stephens, NSW). Along the way, I picked up some great tips on timing and technique for surf launches — super helpful stuff! Unfortunately, my camera ran out of juice as we left Broughton so nothing of the following seas paddle back or through the heads, but I’ve included a few shots from the following day around the heads at the end to fill in. I'm bummed that I missed getting some footage of these two paddling through some messy water around the heads under full sail!
