Solo Hiking in Sierra de Guadarrama: Navacerrada and Peñalara

#hiking #solohiking #silentfilm #mountains #guadarrama #navacerrada #ambientsounds #harmenhoek #kraigadams I spent some days at the mountains, in Sierra de Guadarrama (Madrid/Segovia), at the end of winter/beginning of spring where there is still plenty of snow (and ice) at an altitude higher than 1200 m. I hiked from Cercedilla to Navacerrada, at times following the Pass Schmid Trail (Camino de Schmid), but stepping out of the main route at some stages (I had to be very careful with some icy sections!). The trail is bordered by the wonderful Siete Picos peaks, and crosses Collado Ventoso prairie, which divide Madrid and Segovia provinces. I spent one night in my car at Puerto de Navacerrada (it was craaaaazy cold upthere!) and the following day I headed from Puerto de Cotos (close to Valdesquí ski area) towards Laguna de los Pajaros, from where I could contemplate the magnificent Peñalara peak, the highest summit of the Sierra de Guadarrama. During this part of the hike I followed behind La Gitana viewpoint, the Laguna Chica lake and could enjoy as well the wonderful views of the snowy mountain peaks of Cabezas de Hierro, Cerro de Valdemartin and Bola del Mundo. Finally I climbed to Peñalara peak before sunset, resting at Laguna Grande de Peñalara, and came back with the last sun rays hitting at Puerto de Cotos parking lot. Sadly, all my batteries had died by then, but still it was a wonderful sunset to enjoy :) This is an ambient relaxing film shot at the mountains, accompanied by soft music and the sounds of nature.
