Colombian plantain and banana producers empowered through soil science training

The video introduces the Global Soil Doctors Programme, developed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and its Global Soil Partnership (GSP). Implemented in Colombia in 2025, the programme received support from the World Banana Forum (WBF) and funding from Kaufland. The programme is being developed in collaboration with AGROSAVIA, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Magdalena and La Guajira Banana Growers Association (ASBAMA), EMPREBANCOOP, the University of La Guajira and AUGURA. Through practical, producer-to-producer training, the programme strengthens the capacities of small-scale banana and plantain producers to address soil degradation and improve sustainable management, productivity, and rural livelihoods.
