Montana State Hospital staffers raise new concerns over conditions

Current and former staff members at the Montana State Hospital are sounding the alarm over conditions inside the facility. NBC Montana first reported on this issue last month. Since then, more employees reached out, urging us continue looking into the psychiatric hospital. We received an anonymous voicemail saying there were 38 open registered nursing positions and they currently have 13 state nurse employees. It also detailed ongoing issues with two-way radios not working properly, compromising staff safety during emergencies when facing patient or coworker assaults. The caller said grievances and complaints often go ignored.
