It's time to talk technique. Last video I introduced the concept of technique and the most important elements. Now I'm working on a full class incorporating all those elements. This is a simple exercise but it's really important to master. Clean lines, especially in the arms, is often how I can tell beginning dancers from trained dancers. This exercise is designed to drill the basic lines, side and up, bent and straight arms. Do it first in the mirror and check the alignment of shoulders and wrists especially. Remember that "to the side", your arms will be slightly in front of you. Want a video explaining in depth the concepts and tips for this exercise? Let me know in the comments. Remember - this isn't meant to be exciting. It's meant to teach your body how to do something. Often beginning dancers just want to learn steps - but you have to learn how to crawl before you can walk.
