Kussong (often spelled Kusong) is one of the most remote and scenic hamlets in Upper Dzongu, North Sikkim. It is widely considered the highest village in the Dzongu region, offering some of the most dramatic views of the Kanchenjunga range. As Dzongu is a restricted area reserved for the indigenous Lepcha people, visiting Kussong provides a rare, authentic look into their ancient culture and mountain lifestyle. Tingvong Monastery (officially known as Tingbung Rigdzin Tharling Gonpa) is one of the most culturally significant landmarks for the Lepcha community. It serves as the spiritual hub for the cluster of villages in the region, including Tingvong and Kusong. The monastery was built by Lama Tambi in 1843 A.D.
