Norfolk Southern F Unit Tribute

Over the years I had the pleasure of catching the NS F Units a handful of times. Many of these times being run by an engineer who I am glad to call a friend. He put on a show hauling the NS Brass around, and made each catch of these units memorable. Oddly enough the two most memorable catches were my first and my last catches of the NS F Units. The first time was at Swanton Ohio on a Westbound Deadhead move. After getting the heads up and waiting most of the afternoon we caught the short 6 car train with the A-B-B-A set of units on the point flying west. This was my first time ever seeing covered wagons, and between the horn show and the shier speed of the train, I was left grinning ear to ear the rest of the evening. My last catch of the F Units was of the train heading east at Butler Indiana. This one stood out because we shot them clearing the last set of NYC Trilights between Elkhart and Toledo on the NS Chicago Line. Even though the speed was lower we did get a good show from the awesome K5LA on this train as well. I will still go out to shoot the NS OCS, but it will be a little less enjoyable without the Classic F unit's leading the way. #NorfolkSouthern #FUnits #Classic Please rate, comment, and subscribe!
