👤 Patient: 50 years old ⚖️ BMI: 31 💊 On rivaroxaban (Xarelto) 🔹 The patient underwent a robotic-assisted resection of the rectum. 🔹 A circular end-to-end sigmoidorectal anastomosis was created. 🔹 Due to the elevated risk of anastomotic leakage (high BMI + anticoagulant therapy), a protective loop ileostomy was also formed. 🩺 Postoperative course: Uneventful 📆 Discharged on postoperative day 4 ⸻ 📌 Comment: Even with robotic assistance, rectal surgery in patients with visceral obesity and anticoagulant use remains technically demanding. Every stage — from dissection to anastomosis — requires meticulous hemostasis and thoughtful intraoperative decision-making. ✅ In this case, everything went smoothly. The surgical team worked in perfect coordination, resulting in a safe and early discharge.
