Completed Phacoemulsification with Multifocal IOL despite an Argentinian Flag Sign

This video shows successful completion of a phacoemulsification cataract surgery with a multifocal intraocular lens implant despite encountering an Argentinian Flag Sign intraoperatively. The Flap Motility Sign was also observed which implies the rupture did not extend posteriorly. This allowed confident but careful maneuvers to be able to complete phacoemulsification cataract surgery without complications. There was enough posterior capsule integrity to ensure central placement and stability of the multifocal IOL. Judicious use of cohesive and dispersive viscoelastics, proper adjustment of phacoemulsification parameters, and controlled, deliberate movements all ensured a good outcome for the surgery.
