Well, not a passport but still a fascinating document of (East) German history. The Socialist Unity Party of Germany (German: Sozialistische Einheitspartei Deutschlands, SED), often known in English as the East German Communist Party, was the governing Marxist–Leninist political party of the German Democratic Republic (GDR; East Germany) from the country's foundation in October 1949 until its dissolution after the Peaceful Revolution in 1989. The party was established in April 1946 by merging the Communist Party of Germany and the Social Democratic Party of Germany. Passport History Expert + Author Tom Topol published several articles for notable brands. His website PASSPORT-COLLECTOR.COM and his book, LET PASS OR DIE are a goldmine on historic passports. Each old travel document was an artwork; no passport looked the same because of the beautiful individual handwriting, colorful stamps, visas, and, of course, the most curious passport pictures introduced roughly just 100 years ago.
