Kingston - A Maritime Horror Thriller That Falls Short of Its Potential | Movie Review Set in the fictitious Thoovattur village near Thoothukudi, Kingston is a maritime adventure that promises supernatural intrigue but fails to live up to its eerie potential. The story follows Kingston (G.V. Prakash), a smuggler caught in a web of drug trafficking led by local kingpin Thomas. When a tragic incident pushes Kingston to question his allegiance, his journey leads him into cursed waters where ghostly apparitions and dark secrets about his grandfather’s past await. While director Kalam Prakash delivers visually stunning sequences—especially the stormy nighttime shots—the screenplay is a muddled mess. The complex mythology struggles to unfold through dialogue that juggles contemporary and regional dialects, and the non-stop soundtrack only tries too hard to force an epic feel. G.V. Prakash’s performance is one of the film’s highlights, transitioning from a carefree smuggler to a determined hero. However, the film’s supernatural elements feel underwhelming, with skeletal apparitions that fail to truly scare or cause harm. Even the ghostly figures, which should be the movie’s biggest threat, don’t live up to their ominous buildup. Kingston shows glimmers of what could have been—a chilling maritime horror thriller—but ends up drifting aimlessly in stormy waters, haunted by missed opportunities. #KingstonMovie #MaritimeHorror #GVPrakash #SupernaturalThriller #FilmReview #GhostlyAdventure #MissedOpportunities #HorrorMovies #MovieReview #Thriller
