Cycling to the Falkirk Wheel & The Kelpies, the Forth & Clyde Canal 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scotland, UK | VLOG My husband and I decided to do a day trip to the Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies by cycling! We started off from Glasgow city centre and headed towards the Forth & Clyde Canal in the northern part of the city beyond Cowcadden Subway Station. From there, it's about a 3-hour cycle to The Kelpies (if you're relatively slow and like stopping to take in the views like we did lol). The route to the destination was relatively flat BUT there were a few detours at the beginning due to construction and roadblocks, and also some rough surfaces (when you're still within Glasgow council areas) and those parts were NOT good for our bums! OUCH Beyond that though, the cycle was lovely, flat and pretty smooth with peaceful views of the Forth & Clyde Canal and greenery. Once you reach the Falkirk Wheel, there's plenty of places to get food and to have a rest. We sat down, had our lunch and watched as the wheel did it's engineering thing of transporting canal boats from the bottom to the top and back to the bottom again lol After we were done, we persevered towards The Kelpies where we were greeted with 2 giant steel sculptures of silver horse heads! These are impressive, especially during a sunny day as they reflect a lot of light onto the leisure park around it! This area is also great for families who just want to bring their kids out for a day of fun and picnicking. It's a cool spot! Afterwards, we cycled back to Glasgow which was pretty grouling because our bums were KNACKERED. The bumpy roads before really did a measure on our behinds and we were feeling the soreness by the end of our cycle lol I'd highly recommend getting bicycle seat cushions for slight long distance cycling cause it was pretty rough for us by the end of it haha Anyway it was an amazing day out. This was my second time doing the route and I still love it!!
