Episode 54 of the Wrong Speed Records Chat. An almost certainly never ending series of chats with music folk, friends, and legends. We will talk records. We will talk CDs. We will talk tapes. It's JR Moores, the music writer, the Idle baiter, the psychrocknoiserock reviewing/discussing scribe for The Quietus, The Guardian, and Record Collector. He also teaches, and I've no doubt inspires, journalist students in Manchester and Huddersfield. I'm fearful of my punctuation being judged, I'm aware the first sentence in this paragraph is clunky. He has a book coming out in September, it's killer. If you dig hefty music, from Funkadelic to Melvins, via Napalm Death and The Butthole Surfers, then you just gotta tuck in. I had to talk to JRM about it. The book is called 'Electric Wizards - A Tapestry of Heavy Music, 1968 to the Present'. Click here for more info: http://www.reaktionbooks.co.uk/displa... - .It's not my place to say where you should buy it from, but direct from the publisher or from a real shop will be better for all concerned. Let's not fund another space mission. We talk about his book, of course. We pick a pile of heavy albums to chat about. We talk about why and how music writing was to be his path. We discuss the loss of the word 'CRITIC' in the term 'MUSIC CRITIC'. I worry about his shelving collapsing. He has confidence in his DIY skills. Hope you dig this chat. Go listen to Sabbath and Sleep and Parliament and The Bug and Earth and Scorn and all those bands. Cheers.
