The fugue from J. S. Bach's Fantasia and Fugue in A minor, BWV 904, composed in 1725, arranged by Stephen Malinowski for brass and woodwind octet, accompanied by an animated score. FAQ Q: Where can I get the sheet music for this piece? A: The original, for keyboard, can be downloaded here: http://tinyurl.com/bwv904-keyboard Q: Who is performing? A: Nobody; this rendition was produced by the Sibelius notation program. Q: What do the colors and shapes mean? A: The shapes are associated with instruments: circles for brass, bars for woodwind. This fugue has two themes, and I've arranged the music so that the brass plays one theme and the woodwinds play the other (except at the very end, where all instruments play). The four colors show the four voices (soprano, alto, tenor and bass). In a couple of places I changed which instrument played which part. Q: Is there a way I could make bar-graph scores myself? A: The Music Animation Machine MIDI file player will generate a display similar to this; you can get the (Windows) software here: http://www.musanim.com/player/ There are lots of places on the web where you can get MIDI files; I usually go to the Classical Archives site first: http://www.classicalarchives.com/ Q: I appreciate the animated graphical scores you make; how can I help?
