Installing a SIP plug in a ZIMI small mask

I've had people ask how to install their SIP plug into a mask. while a hole punched should be a great start, I can't get in far enough on the mask to use one. I start by putting the mask on and marking with a sharpie where I would like the straw to be. I then look at the inside of the Zimi mask to see if it would be directly being the frame or not and adjust. if you don't have a Zimi mask just skip that step. I then use the hard SIP outer portion and trace the inside circle on the outside of the mask, making sure the dot I placed earlier is centered in it. instead of trying to use scissors to cut out the circle I very carefully use an exacto knife to cut an X in the circle. I do this by straddling the circle with my index and middle finger being very careful to not cut myself. after you have your X insert the silicone plug and put on the hard plastic circle. check the inside to see if the silicone is laying flat. if it's not, remove everything and make the X slightly larger. repeat until it's in good. be sure to do very small adjustments so that your home doesn't get too big and end up leaking. #sip #sipplug #mask #sipmask #zimi #zimimask #covidmask #n95 #kn95
