In the First and Second Wars, Carthage had gotten itself increasingly involved in the conflict and rose to dominate most of the island. Only the Greek city state of Syracuse stood in its way. In its darkest hour, Dionysius would rise to reforge Syracuse and fight back against the might of Carthage.
