Composition is what you do after you find the image because if you can't see - your camera is effectively blind. The first step is to see the image in the first place. You have to learn how to find photos and it's actually very easy. But to begin with you have to concentrate and keep looking around you. Disassociate yourself from your surroundings and really look at what's going on. Then imagine a picture frame around what you're seeing and then you can go to work on the composition.
