The weekend is upon us and it's time for our regular helping of retro fun as we step back to 2005. Seventeen years ago, these lads and lasses were having a good time in Newcastle city centre, and were all photographed for the Chronicle's popular Bigg Night Out section which ran in the paper every Friday from 1999 to 2012. As ever, we hope life has treated them all well. But, what do you remember of 2005? Here in the North East, it was the year the Tall Ships Race returned to the River Tyne; Michael Owen signed for Newcastle United for a club record £16m fee - a move that would not be a success; and 2,000 people stripped off at Gateshead Quays to take part in a nude installation by conceptual artist Spencer Tunick.
