Note: There are a few loose ends and I wasn't sure where to connect them. There are notes implying this isn't your first go-around which may hint at some sort of memory-wipe of potential candidates, or it points to more of a meta explanation but I've been exploring that route in a lot of videos lately, without more solid proof I felt I should leave it out. Faceminer is definitely the best 90s-inspired synthwave-fueled auto-clicker to come out this year. While other indie games in the auto-clicker / resource manager space go deeper into optimization and longevity, Faceminer focuses on telling a short but well-constructed story about surveillance, AI, the exponential growth of technology, and the impact on the environment. And in true indie game fashion, this story is told environmentally, through emails and... well, mostly through emails. In this video I try to tackle the immersive story of Faceminer, told over multiple playthroughs, by connecting the emails with general themes, symbols, and plot lines. The game did just come out so there might be parts I missed, I sort of hope there are because this story is perfect for an ARG.
