Lunas is a compelling short film about healing beyond dimensions of medical advancements that aims to shed a light about the most under-talked dimension of HIV-AIDS: mental health and the suffrage of their families left behind. Based on statistics, about 13.8 million children and minors are orphaned due to AIDS-related causes. This phenomena have heightened the risk of poverty, homelessness, school dropouts, discrimination, and loss of opportunities. In the film, Angelica Charisse Buligan plays the role of Linda, mother of Ben (Ayman B. Saaban) and friend of Assiyah (Naimah Gutoc Mauntol), who died due to HIV Contraction after working overseas as a healthcare personnel. According to the collective presentation by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there's a 0.23% chance on contracting HIV through a needle-stick per 10,000 counts of exposure. Lunas portrays the the realities and consequences lived by parents with AIDS and its rippling effects to their families after deprivation of medical attention due to expensive costs of treatment and exclusion from welfare privileges given to general majority in the society.
