This opera dramatizes Nietzsche’s call to “become who you are.” The crumbling laws, statues and masks symbolize inherited moral codes and social roles that once gave safety but now suffocate the self. As the chains “I learned to love” are broken, the will to power awakens: fear is not denied but “drunk to the dregs” and transformed into strength. Old values are shattered so that new ones can be created. The repeated plea “Let me become” is the cry of a self who dares to step beyond obedience, accepting risk, pain and solitude in order to affirm life on its own terms and freely shape its own path. Every rule on my skin is a fading scar, Every “you must” cracks under my tongue. I was a mask in a borrowed parade, Laughing on cue when the trumpets cried. Now in the silence, the borrowed smiles fade, Only a naked heartbeat stays alive. I feel a storm beneath my ribs, A rising sea that will not sleep. Break, break, break the chains I learned to love, Let the shards of yesterday fall from my blood. Lift, lift, lift this trembling soul above, Till the fire inside me is finally enough. Let me become, let me become, The name that waits inside the drum. Let me become, let me become, The living pulse I’m running from. Streets full of voices cling to my feet, Promising safety if I stay small. But there is a hunger that will not retreat, A whisper that turns into a battle call. I watch my own shadow tear off the wall, Step from the outline I lived within. Every “no” that I swallowed now starts to roar, Spinning the ashes into a different wind. I taste the fear upon my lips, And choose to drink it to the dregs. If I must burn to kindle my dawn, Light me, light me, carry me on. If I must lose the world I knew, Scatter the pieces, I’ll walk through. Break, break, break the gates inside my chest, Let the wild new thunder answer every test. Lift, lift, lift this broken voice and cry, Till the sky I feared becomes my own reply. Let me become, let me become, The roar that once was only numb. Let me become, let me become, The free unfolding yet to come. #Opera #Soprano #tenoraria #PhilosophyInMusic #ClassicalVoice #EpicOpera #OperaAria #Lyrics #ClassicalOpera #OperaSinger#OrchestralAria#EpicOpera#operaperformance
