Video footage of using a rented bike in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. The system is run by YouBike Co. Ltd. The bicycles are available for rent at numerous stations located near public transport stations, universities, sightseeing points etc. The user has first to register one time at a YouBike service center, the official website or via the official app. Then, the rental procedure is fully automated with using a (prepaid) contact-less smart-card (EasyCard, iPASS) or a smartphone app (linked to a credit card) to unlock the bike upon start of hire and lock the bike when returning it. The rental fee is charged for 30 minute increments and adopts progressive tolls. There are some dedicated bicycle routes available.
