LEG 2 of the 2024 Signature Triple Crown, presented by Chantilly Air, was held out of Los Sueños Resort and Marina February 19-24, starting with the Ladies Only Tournament on Tuesday, February 20th. The 11 participating teams released an outstanding 309 billfish one day, including 306 sails and 3 marlin. The 42 teams registered for the Signature Triple Crown went on to release 2,307 billfish, including 4 marlin and 2,303 sails in three days from Thursday through Saturday. This is the fourth time in the last 10 years that the fleet has made it over 2,000 fish in a tournament and it’s the second highest count in any tournament held out of Los Sueños, beat only by Leg 2 of 2016 when 43 boats released 2,754 billfish. That same year 6,570 billfish were released over three legs. In LEG 1, held January 15-20, there were 1,933 billfish, or 48 fish per boat, which worked out to nearly 81 fish per hour, released. During LEG 2, the numbers show 55 fish per boat and over 96 fish an hour! The highest ever fish per boat ratio during the 10 years of the Signature Billfish Series (held 2004-2013) was 37 in January 2013. That number has been beat twelve times in the last 10 years!
