Don't get me wrong - the Kodak Reels Film Digitizer is probably the best 8mm cine film scanner around. Higher quality and speed will cost thousands. But what's the point? Most cine cameras from the 1960's offered good resolutions, but nothing like today's 4k offerings. Unless the lighting was perfect they could also look a bit grainy. Before purchasing the Kodak Reels digitizer I tried another make costing half the price but giving less than half the quality. As they say, you get what you pay for. This machine is very simple to use and produces very good files from very good film. Sadly, nothing will improve poor quality 8mm cine. I have a couple of small quibbles - the 'Fast Forward' speed is anything but - it's actually quite slow. And there is very little tension on the spools so they tend to be quite loose when fully wound. Other than that just watch to the end of the film to see a major issue you need to be aware of.
