To mark the centennial of the premiere of George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" on February 12, 1924, we are thrilled to post the video of our concert from February 11, 2024 at Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor! Jayce Ogren led SMTD's Contemporary Directions Ensemble with the extraordinary Kevin Cole as soloist on the U-M Gershwin Piano, which was in George Gershwin's home. We present Ferde Grofé's vibrant original scoring for jazz band, written specially for Paul Whiteman's "An Experiment in Modern Music" concert at Aeolian Hall in New York City.
