Ickworth House - National Trust Ickworth House is a unique Neoclassical country mansion near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, famous for its massive central Rotunda. Built between 1795 and 1829 for Frederick Hervey, the 4th Earl of Bristol (known as the "Earl-Bishop"), the house was designed to showcase his extensive collection of art and treasures acquired during his European Grand Tours. The Rotunda: A 105-foot-high domed central building flanked by two curved wings. It houses an internationally renowned collection of Italian art, fine silver, and Regency furniture. Italianate Gardens: The estate features the earliest surviving Italianate garden in England, complete with a Mediterranean Temple Garden and a Victorian-style stumpery. 1930s Servant Basement: Visitors can explore the restored servants' quarters, which recreate domestic life from the 1930s through interactive displays and storytelling. Parkland: The estate covers 1,800 acres of parkland, featuring ancient woodlands, a walled garden, and over 26 miles of trails for walking and cycling.
