Join us for a live conversation with Storm Team 8 Meteorologist Jon Rivas We will go over the 8 day forecast and answer any questions. Another mild start with warmth continuing into the afternoon. It will be very similar to what we had yesterday with one noticeable change. It will be much windier for this afternoon with gusts around 30 to 40 mph. This will increase our fire risk today and for Wednesday as well. Any burns should be postponed until conditions improve. We will stick with the warmth for Wednesday, which will be the last day we could see 60s. An area of low pressure is expected to pass over Iowa as it approaches from the west Thursday. This will lead to rain chances to start with highs in the 50s. Later in the day and evening, rain chances will switch to snow chances as temperatures drop. This will last overnight and only lead to isolated snow chances for a colder Friday morning. The snow should start as a wet heavy snow and become more light and fluffy overnight. The locations of snow accumulation is still very much uncertain and has changed from model to model. It does seem like there will be a swath of accumulations with the best chance for the northern half of the state to see. The location will come into better focus over the next 24 to 48 hours. The winds will be strong during this time as well, so we could see blowing snow last even once the snow has stopped Friday. The bitter cold will move back in for Thursday night and by Friday morning. Wind chills will dip into the teens to single digits at their lowest. It is shaping up to be a cold weekend as well with additional windy days. If the wind prediction stays as is, we could see single digit below zero chills return Saturday night into Sunday morning and again Monday morning.
