Queensland – Clairview Clairview is a remote, exposed bay on the central Queensland coast, defined by vast tidal flats and a long, undeveloped shoreline. There’s no township vibe or structured launch — just open coast, mangroves, and big sky. It feels isolated because it is, and that isolation is part of both its appeal and its risk. The riding environment is extremely tide-dependent. At low tide the bay drains into kilometres of exposed flats, with rocks and rubble fields becoming uncovered. Riding is only viable around mid to high tide when enough water covers the sand and rock to move freely. Wind is typically E to SE trade-driven, working best when the gradient is clean and stable. When it lines up, the bay delivers long, open runs with minimal chop. When it doesn’t, there’s no backup zone or protected water. This is a remote, advanced-only spot. Rocks are common underfoot, and booties are strongly recommended to avoid cuts when launching, landing, or walking gear at lower water levels. There are no facilities, no rescue, and no local kite presence. Crocodiles are present in this area and should be treated as a real hazard, not an abstract risk. Clairview suits experienced riders who are comfortable with tidal planning, self-reliance, and northern Queensland conditions. It offers space and solitude — but only if you respect what the coastline demands.
