Hey Peeps, This is the first part of a gamemaker tutorial for creating destructible terrain just like you see in games like Worms. It's really simple to do and can be a cool feature for all sorts of games. This is a three part gamemaker tutorial series that takes you through creating the feature. It doesn't show you how to create a complete game, but this feature can be added to all sorts of games like platforms, shooters, and strategy games. The code in this gamemaker tutorial is flexible and robust, you can do all sorts of things with it. In this part I take you through the basics of drawing a sprite using surfaces and then making holes in it with blend modes. It's all pretty straight forward and all you need is a basic understanding of how to make a game in Gamemaker using GML. If you have any questions or run in to any problems, let me know.
