On the topic of Taiwan’s defense against a Chinese invasion, Hsiao said Taiwan would neither challenge the status quo, nor submit to the CCP. She added that a cross-strait conflict would be a disaster for humanity, including for the people of China. Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim was recently interviewed by US podcaster Shawn Ryan, a former US Navy SEAL and CIA contractor. Hsiao brought the show host some of Taiwan’s best-loved dishes, including braised pork rice and mango shaved ice. But one dish was conspicuously missing. In the face of a potential invasion, Hsiao said the only way to deter the CCP was to strengthen Taiwan’s military and combat readiness. She added that Taiwan would neither provoke the other party nor change the status quo, never mind submitting to threats from the CCP.
