'The Man From Connemara' performed at Lowry's Bar in Clifden, Connemara, County Galway - late June '18. These guys played a great set on guitar (Peter Carey) and accordion (Aiden Curran) in a bar famous for it's nightly traditional music sessions. The popularity of this establishment is reflected in the background banter from the crowd! The beautiful scenery featured is Connemara on the road North from that town toward Leenaun. The song itself was written by Irish musician Robbie O'Connell in 1989 and tells the story of a man who leaves Ireland to find work. He succeeds through hard graft and never loses the core values of the place from whence he came - rugged, enduring and impressive as it's landscapes. it's great to see two senior Irish men with a lifetime of local work behind them breath life into this story song. Robbie has a good website with details about himself , his songs and performances. www.robbieoconnell.com www.lowrysbar.ie Jpin the Irelandscapes FB group for more videos, stories, photos and documentaries: / 515207628821142
