What is a Super Extreme DUI in Arizona? In this video, Phoenix DUI Lawyer explains everything you need to know about Arizona's most serious misdemeanor DUI charge — the Super Extreme DUI. If you or someone you love is facing a Super Extreme DUI charge in Arizona, understanding the law, the penalties, and your legal options is critical. Call us today for a free consultation at 📞 (602) 900-9891 or visit our website at 🌐 https://phoenixduilawyer.xyz/ Arizona is known for having some of the toughest DUI laws in the entire country. Unlike many states that only recognize a single DUI offense level, Arizona classifies drunk driving charges into three distinct tiers based on your blood alcohol content (BAC) at the time of arrest. A basic DUI applies when your BAC falls between 0.08% and 0.14%. An Extreme DUI is charged when your BAC reaches 0.15% or higher. The most severe misdemeanor charge — a Super Extreme DUI — is triggered when your BAC is 0.20% or above. A Super Extreme DUI carries the harshest penalties of any misdemeanor DUI offense in Arizona. For a first-time Super Extreme DUI conviction, you face a minimum fine of $3,250 plus additional court fees and jail costs. You are also required to serve a mandatory six-month jail sentence, and your driving privileges will be suspended for at least one year. On top of that, the court will order the installation of an ignition interlock device (IID) on your vehicle, which must remain in place for a minimum of two years. If you have a prior DUI conviction on your record, the consequences become even more severe. A second Super Extreme DUI conviction carries a minimum fine of $3,750 plus fees, a mandatory six-month jail sentence, a one-year license suspension, and an ignition interlock device installed for 24 months. These penalties can have a devastating impact on your career, your family, and your future. In this video, we also discuss Arizona's implied consent law under A.R.S. § 28-1321, which means that by holding an Arizona driver's license, you have already agreed to submit to BAC testing if an officer suspects you of driving under the influence. Refusing a BAC test results in an automatic license suspension and can be used against you in court. We cover the primary dangers of drunk driving, including impaired vision, reduced judgment and alertness, loss of muscle coordination, and slowed reaction times. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), approximately 12,000 people die every year in DUI-related accidents across the United States, and roughly 900,000 people are arrested annually for DUI or DWI offenses. Arizona takes drunk driving extremely seriously, and the state defines being "under the influence" as being impaired to the slightest degree under Arizona Revised Statutes Section 28-1381(A). This means that even if your BAC is below 0.08%, you can still be charged with a DUI if the officer believes your driving ability was impaired. A Super Extreme DUI charge is not something you should try to handle on your own.
