Filmed at Blackpool Pleasure Beach on August 23rd 2018. Manufactured by Cogan, Big Foot was released in the late 1990s. It is a large blue land rover-type car with HUGE wheels. I always think of Big Foot as marking a major changing point in kiddie ride history. Gone were the days of simple cute little animals that rocked back and forth atop small boxes, from now on rides would be big, bold, brash...and did I mention BIG?! It was the first in a series of "base-less" kiddie rides too. The wheels themselves form the base and stay stationery whilst the ride is in action. Only the cockpit moves, oscillating and tipping back. I can remember being quite terrified the first time I rode Big Foot, convinced that I would fall over the back of the seat and out of the car! The rider controls the action by use of a lever inside the ride. Big Foot was a huge hit on the British market and could be seen at most seaside resorts for several year after its release. However, its popularity appears to be waning a little now in favour of other more recent giant rides. It is still in production at the time of writing. This particular model has obviously been refurbished to resemble an Army Jeep. The audio and sound effect buttons no longer work. I am currently working on a website about coin operated rides, particularly those made (or at least commonly distributed) in the UK during the 1950s-90s.
