I've always thought that by placing the speakers behind the screen, it would create a better cinema experience. This video follows my early testing of the screen before ripping out everything to accommodate the new 'acoustic transparent screen'. I never kept track of the cost of the materials, but I estimate it to be well under £200. Those little pots of glue soon start adding up the cost. Overall, it was worth the effort, the sound placement is now excellent. One word of warning before you rush off to make yourself a new screen, on the tests, I thought some picture definition was lost. (this could be my eyesight) However, there is without doubt a considerable light loss with this material. This can easily be overcome by increasing the lamp output, but this could reduce the lamp life... so possibly more expense. If you've read this so far, thank you for your interest... There are one or two more home cinema videos on my channel that may interest you. David Trigger Warning. References are made to outdated things like... Screen Masking, 35mm & Cinerama.
