It’s not the place you go for easy bites or high numbers—this lake makes you work for every take. The stock is deliberately kept smaller, and as a result, the fish here grow to impressive sizes. It’s a classic quality-over-quantity scenario. Some days, the lake feels alive with possibility, the fish feeding confidently. Other times, no matter how dialed-in your rigs are or how perfect the conditions seem, it’s like the fish have vanished into another dimension. I’ve experienced both extremes over the years—moments of triumph when I’ve landed stunning, golden, thick-set Tench, and frustrating sessions where I’ve walked away without so much as a knock on the bobbin. But that’s exactly what keeps me coming back to what is one of my favourite lakes here. Arriving early this morning, everything felt spot-on—ideal weather, the right time, and that unmistakable buzz of potential in the air.
