The Social Credit Party (or Movement) of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was a third positionist movement started by John Hargrave in the early 1930s based on the philosophy of Social Credit created by Clifford Hugh Douglas (not related to China's social credit system). Hargrave was a former scout leader who started an organisation called the Kindred of the Kibbo Kift in 1920, a largely occult and pagan focused scouting and woodcraft organisation known for their eccentric style. In 1932, Hargrave created a a branch of this group, originally the Legion of the Unemployed, later the Social Credit Party, which acted as the political and later paramilitary wing of Kibbo Kift, however, Hargrave had now began to promote Christianity as opposed to Kibbo Kift's traditional and pagan beliefs. The SCP wore green uniforms, earning them the nickname "greenshirts" (not to be confused with the Irish greenshirts led by Eoin O'Duffy in the Spanish Civil War, the Hungarian Arrow Cross Party, who also wore green shirts, or the Brazillian Integralist movement, another Christian third positionist movement from the 1930s that wore green uniforms). Hargrave was known as "White Fox" in his time as a scout leader, and to this day, his followers refer to him by this name. Literature related to Hargrave and the Green Shirts can be found on the book shop site of The League of St George (which was formed in 1974 by former members of Sir Oswald Mosley’s Union Movement and promote Mosley's Europe A Nation philosophy) in which Hargrave is called "A hero of the white race". His group had associated with Mosley and the BUF and even had contributed to some literature published by the BUF such as "The British Union And Social Credit". Mosley and Hargrave had met and spoken, and Mosley considred the Green Shirts one of the most polite political organisations of Britain, despite this, the Green Shirts and Mosley's BUF ended up in battles including communist organisations, to which Hargrave said he "is not after the left or right wings" and views them as "two rats caught in a nasty trap", adding that he is "after the rat catcher instead", who he considered to be the banks and bankers. Fascists, communists and socialists of history and present day have spoken support for the Social Credit Party and Hargrave, showing it to be a true third positionist ideology and group.
