Terminator-assisted superplay (TAS) of Terminator 2: Judgment Day Arcade What is a TAS? / prog61 Goal: -Complete the game with one credit -Getting as little damage as possible (without taking weeks to optimize) Notes: -It's far from a perfect TAS. -This is my first TAS of this game. I hadn't planned ahead. I only reacted to what was happening on the screen. Now that I see the final video, it's easy to spot things I could do better. It will be for next time. -I lost a bit of energy here and there and more in battle with the T-1000. I think it's possible not to lose any, but it would be very hard for a human (but not for a terminator?). -I didn't get 100% accuracy in the stats, I think sometimes enemies spawn near the edge of the screen and disappear quickly without giving you time to shoot them. -But now seeing the finished video, I wonder why I let go of some of the robots in the 1st level. -And keep in mind that it is the T-800 that plays. Since it only has a 6502 processor in its head (as in the Apple ][, as clearly shown in the first movie at 37:29) he doesn't have enough processing power to keep up with the game 😀😀😀 -The rng depends among other things on the position of the crosshair, so it is easy to abuse it in a TAS. -I abuse it in the 'Trip to Skynet' section. I move the position of the crosshair before a flying enemy enters the screen until they don't shoot at me or the truck. -But it's easy to make a mistake, I had to redo some parts 2-3 times because of me moving the crosshair too soon. -I'm used to pointing at a target a few frames before it enters the screen, but if I did that in this game, the fact that I moved the crosshairs makes the enemy appear somewhere else. And sometimes I only see that when I replay the whole TAS, so I have to redo the last part that I did. Maybe there is also a small problem with the "save state". -I was surprised to see that I hadn't shot enough things in Cyberdyne's office, I had the impression that we didn't have to shoot all the things but I was wrong. Now that I see the video, I can see what I didn't shoot. I should have used the shotgun more often at this point. -But since it's the T-800 that plays, he largely preferred that Cyberdyne not be destroyed since without them he wouldn't exist. 😀 In the steel mill, punching a hole in the liquid nitrogen tank is sometimes difficult to do. Sometimes a shotgun blast does the trick, but other times you have to shoot 3 times. I do not know why. -From the steel mill, I didn't try not to get hit, as long as I didn't die that was fine with me. -The last battle with the T-1000 has 4 phases: -To start you have to shoot him so that he falls on the bridge and disappears by liquefying -2nd phase is when he is close to you, shoot his head until his head splits in two. -3rd phase is to shoot him with the shogun to knock him back until he is about to fall into the molten steel -get the grenade launcher that will fall from the far left or right of the screen, shoot it 2 times. Maybe I should redo the 2nd part of the game from the desktop? You tell me. It took about 30 hours of work to make this TAS. Thanks for watching.
