Welcome to Gyeongju National Museum, located in the millennial capital of the ancient Silla Kingdom. The museum sits in the heart of Gyeongju Historic Area, which was listed as UNESCO World Heritage in 2000. Nearby are the royal palace site Wolseong, Donggung Palace, Wolji Pond, Taeneungwon complex of royal tombs, and the site of the great Silla temple Hwangnyongsa. To the south the museum faces Mt. Namsan, a treasure trove of Buddhist art. The landscape around the museum is covered with cultural sites and is a piece of history in itself.
