I finally figured out how to (kind of) make custom maps in Tacklebox! I only know how to add meshes, so I can't add custom fish, coins, pots, tetherable points, etc with the method I'm using, just the mesh itself. But I still feel like there's a LOT still possible with the base movement kit. The reason why it looks the way it does is cause I can't get textures to work lol, the majority of the model is just pitch black, so I'm using the debug menu's rendering debug Triplanar setting. I'll look more into fixing textures for future maps probably but I'm kind of at a loss on how to fix it. Here's a tutorial on how to make custom maps: 01. Download UABEAvalonia and Unity Hub and with Unity Hub make a Unity project that's the same version as Tacklebox's Unity version (2023.2.20f1) 02. Export your map out of blender as an obj with Forward Axis set to -X and Up Axis set to Z 03. Drag and drop newly exported obj into Unity project 04. Select model in the Assets pane and in the Inspector make sure these three things are checked: Keep Quads, Generated Colliders, Read/Write 05. Drag and drop the model out of the assets pane and into the scene (it's gonna look sideways but I swear it'll be normal in Tacklebox) 06. Now in the top left of Unity click File - Buld Settings - Build and make a new folder for it and put it in there (name doesn't matter) 07. Open UABEAvalonia, then click File - Open, open the folder you just made with the unity build, go into the (name)_Data folder and double click "sharedassets0.assets" 08. A new window with a list of stuff should've opened, at the top click View - Filter - Deselect All then click Mesh in the list and close that window 09. Now find "default" in the main list, select it and on the right click Export Raw, then Export Dump. I like to export to desktop. 10. After exporting that, close the list window and in UABEA click File Open again, this time open your games installation folder, go into "The Big Catch Tacklebox_Data" double click "data.unity3d" then click info in the main UABEA window 11. At the top of the giant list (again) click View - Filter - Deselect All then click Mesh in the list and close that window 12. Now I like to sort the massive list of meshes by name (just by clicking "name" at the top) and select any area you want to replace (I like replacing "Area_Tacklebox_BaseKitIsland" (aka seesaw) just cause its at the top of the list lol) 13. After selecting the ruin you want to replace, click Import Raw on the right and find that .dat file you exported out of UABEA earlier. Then click Import Dump and do the same with the .txt you exported earlier. 14. Now ctrl+S or click File - Save, then close the window with the list and in the main UABEA window save again. 15. Now you can open your game, go to the ruin you replaced, and it should be there. If you're just wanting to play someone else's map, here's the steps to install it: 01. Have someone provide you with a map in the form of both a .dat file and .txt file (or .obj in which case do the steps above I guess?) 02. Download UABEAvalonia then open it 03. In the top left click File - Open, open your games installation folder, go into "The Big Catch Tacklebox_Data" double click "data.unity3d" then click info in the main UABEA window 04. At the top of the giant list click View - Filter - Deselect All then click Mesh in the list and close that window 05. Now I like to sort the massive list of meshes by name (just by clicking "name" at the top) and select whatever area you want to replace (I like replacing "Area_Tacklebox_BaseKitIsland" (aka seesaw) just cause its at the top of the list lol) 06. After selecting the ruin you want to replace, click Import Raw on the right and find that .dat file you were given by the map creator. Then click Import Dump and do the same with the .txt. 07. Now ctrl+S or click File - Save, then close the window with the list and in the main UABEA window save again. 08. Now you can open your game, go to the ruin you replaced, and it should be there. Here's a link to the .dat file and .txt file for this map [apparently it only works on version 1.1 for some reason], also for me it's detected by firefox as a possible virus when downloading lmao so idk... download at your own risk I guess?
