Today we are going to be talking about why everybody should have a classic long sleeve polo in their wardrobe. Chris, what are your thoughts on the long sleeve polo? I really like them, I’m a big fan of wearing a long sleeve polo shirt. It’s such an easy item to dress up or dress down, now it’s a cliché but it’s so useful in that horrible, sometimes difficult to navigate smart casual. The Rampley & Co one dresses up beautifully, I’d got a few little subtle details that make it great with a jacket. The collar is cut like a shirt collar with a proper stand and this lovely small neat collar that sits beautifully within the lapels of the jacket but also if you’re wearing it underneath a sweater, it sits properly. The slightly longer placket fills up the ‘V’ of the jacket, looks more like a shirt so its slightly smarter and the lovely touch is on the button cuff. It has a button cuff which makes it more like a shirt so its a little bit more dressed up with a smart jacket like this. In your opinion, what is your favourite way to pair this? My favourite thing about a long sleeve polo shirt is its versatility. You can wear it with a smart sports jacket and flannel trousers and you’ll dress very elegantly but it also looks very smart with some cotton chinos, loafers and an unstructured blazer, really good smart casual look. Just roll the sleeves up, wear it with some shorts, pair of sunglasses and you’re good for the beach.
