November 2022 Switching Operations On Our Lionel O Gauge Layout!

This is the first switching operations video on this layout that takes advantage of the updated yard/industrial area, and features the NS ET44AC Lion-Chief+ 2 engine! The plan was to pickup a tank car from the oil wells, an empty hopper from the coal load-out, a pair of flatcars with farm equipment and cement hopper from the main yard. The new section of the yard adds a "runaround" track which solves the switch direction issues the original yard plan had. The train crossed over, backed through the wye, made the first two pickups, the engine runs around, picks up the train, works the yard, and finally backs out on to the main again. Because of the placement of the yard, traffic had to be held up on the inner main line. There was also a brief run of Jim's pre-war Lionel passenger set!
