This is probably the largest amount of blocked ear wax that an ear wax removal specialist would ever be required to remove from an ear. The ear wax extraction was performed using the latest endoscopic ear wax removal technique introduced into the UK by Clearwax with the iCLEARscope video oto-endoscope. This method of ear wax removal has many benefits over ear wax irrigation and ear syringing. Mainly, the procedure is performed under direct supervision whereas both ear irrigation and ear syringing is performed blindly. In addition, and similarly to microsuction ear wax removal, no water is used significantly reducing the likelihood of developing an ear infection or perforating the eardrum. Endoscopic ear wax removal also has many advantages over earwax microsuction. These include a much wider field of view and greater freedom of operation with ENT ear wax removal instruments. Subsequently the procedure has been clinically found to be significantly quicker, more comfortable and easier to perform than microsuction ear wax removal.
