Come December 26, the historical Belagavi session of the Indian National Congress, completes 100 years. The ruling Congress in Karnataka has lined up a series of events to commemorate the day, which had consolidated the Congress’ support for Gandhi’s ideals and his continued leadership in the freedom movement. It was in 1924 that Belagavi hosted the 39th plenary session of the INC and it is significant because it was the only session presided over by Mahatma Gandhi.
