Although Fei is able to defeat all four of the champ's subordinates, he is easily bested by Rico after pulling his punches as he had no reason to fight him. He once again wakes up in the treatment area and gets briefed about the prison facility he is in known as D-Block. The doctor also tells him about the explosive collar that prevents prisoners from escaping. While exploring the area, Fei meets a demi-human merchant named Hammer, who takes a liking for Fei after learning about how impressive he was as a fighter and offers his services to Fei whenever he is in need. Fei is then approached by the overseeing committee to participate in their sanctioned fights using Gears after witnessing his encounter with the Champ but gets turned down after Fei expresses his distaste for battling once again. After returning to the prisoner's quarters, Fei is surprised to see Citan posing as the new prison doctor, who came after learning about a Gear with descriptions similar to Weltall getting brought there. Citan then informs him about what happened to Bart and his crew, along with the sinking of their ship. Fei then admits that he fell into a trance again but doesn't mope anymore like in the past, and immediately resolves to getting out of the place to look for Bart and the others, believing them to be still alive somewhere. Hammer then reminds Fei of the Rue's offer, informing him that winning the tournament would grant him an opportunity for freedom. Fei agrees to join, prompting Hammer to go help him register. Elsewhere, a mysterious committee is keeping a lookout on a particular someone currently in Nortune. Fearing that he would cause the same incident 500 years ago that led to the fall of the members of the mysterious committee, they have decided to nuke Nortune with him in it. Back in Nortune, Fei's group is surprised that the committee has paired him up with Weltall. Citan suspects that it is an intentional move by Kislev to gather battle data but sees it as an opportunity nonetheless.
