Oceanic ClimateScapes is an experimental sonification performance that invites the audience to engage with the auditory qualities of the ocean. By blending sound, science, technology, and algorithmic processes, this work examines the intersection of culture, nature, and performance. Through the use of real-time data introduced by the performers' gestural interventions, marine soundscapes are altered and transformed, reflecting a dynamic interplay between the environment and sound, while capturing the vulnerability of the marine ecosystem to ecological degradation. The piece is constructed from recordings captured in the Hellenic Trench using hydrophones, with data from Arduino - based physicochemical sensors influencing the sonic transformations. Variations in four key oceanic variables (pH, temperature, salinity, and sea level) are mapped to sound characteristics such as pitch, speed, reverb, and stereo imaging, creating a sonification that shifts in response to real-world data.
